Forever Young Salon & Barber is seeking an experienced Unisex Stylist/Barber to join our growing team. This is not a chair rental position. It is a W-2 employee position offering commission-based compensation with a guaranteed minimum base, paid vacation, and long-term growth opportunities. Commission compensation is based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated service capabilities.

This position will begin on a part-time basis, generally 20-30 hours per week, with shifts primarily scheduled from mid-afternoon through closing. As our client base continues to expand, successful team members will have opportunities to increase their hours and transition into full-time positions.

We are looking for a licensed professional with 5+ years of experience who is confident providing haircutting, clipper-cutting services, styling, and exceptional customer care. The ideal candidate takes pride in their craft, maintains a professional appearance, and is committed to delivering outstanding service to every client. Basic Spanish proficiency required to greet clients, understand service requests, and support our bilingual community.

As our salon continues to grow, team members are expected to expand their service offerings through ongoing professional development, including training in hair color and hair extension services.

Experience working with diverse hair textures and types, including straight, wavy, curly, and coily hair, is highly valued.

We welcome candidates to share examples of their work, including professional social media pages, portfolios, before-and-after photos, or other examples of completed services. Sharing examples of work is encouraged but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide haircutting and styling services for clients of all genders and ages

• Perform clipper-cutting services, including fades, tapers, and blending techniques

• Conduct client consultations and recommend styles based on client needs and preferences

• Provide shampooing, blow-drying, and finishing services

• Deliver exceptional customer service and build lasting client relationships

• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation at all times

• Participate in ongoing professional development and advanced service training

• Develop knowledge of salon products and assist with retail recommendations

• Support a positive, professional, and team-oriented salon environment

Requirements

• Valid Connecticut cosmetology or barber license

• 5+ years of salon, barbering, or related industry experience

• Strong clipper-cutting skills, including fades, tapers, and blending techniques

• Proficiency in haircutting and styling using shears and professional tools

• Ability to perform client consultations and recommend appropriate services

• Strong communication and active listening skills

• Thorough understanding of sanitation and safety standards

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment

• Basic Spanish proficiency sufficient to greet clients, understand simple requests, and support our bilingual community

• Commitment to ongoing education and willingness to expand service offerings through training in hair color and hair extension services

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with a diverse range of hair textures and styles

• Hair coloring experience

• Hair extension experience

• Strong product knowledge and retail recommendation skills
